Summary of Project
Warrior Radio is a new Internet radio station started by Dr. Simon’s Intro. to Broadcast Journalism students.
Key Takeaways or Advice
One of the struggles was keeping students motivated throughout the process. Building the station was a semester-long process and many of the kids wanted to start broadcasting right away without going through all the design thinking steps.
Learning Standards
Students sent out surveys to gather data about what listeners want to hear on the station. The results of those surveys were analyzed and a proposed programming grid was created.
Students also learned all aspects of starting an Internet radio station, including start-up costs, equipment needs, and music licensing issues.
