Problem: How might we get people to Uncover KC’s Field Trip website and ultimately visit Kansas City Museums and other institutions?
Summary of Project
Uncover KC works closely with Explorable Places and KC Field Trips to help provide, organize, and schedule field trips for teachers or other educational instructors to help provide more information about the types of field trip opportunities available, who the target audience is, what curriculum level the field trip is best for and more. Students would be asked to provide feedback on different field trip opportunities and then update the listings, provide advocacy materials, and create engagement tools to help drive people to the website and field trips. The materials students create can get as in-depth as the students would like and can include videos, write-ups, photos, etc. that will be used to help promote the field trip listings.
Key Takeaways or Advice
Planning transportation can be a challenge for this type of project. I will say that this particular group of students was not excited about learning US History or visiting museums at first. It has been wonderful to see the engagement and excitement that have come from the museum visits. I have been overjoyed to see what these students are capable of when they actually get excited about something.
