Project Attributes

School: Shawnee Mission South High School

Class: SEEK

Instructor: Carol Hess

Client: Pete’s Garden, Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, and Fre3dom Interiors

Problem: Worked with Pete’s Garden on social media outreach and database development; Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and Fre3dom Interiors were Job Shadow Experiences

In 1st semester, my student met with Pete’s Garden and assisted with the social media outreach. Then, the student transitioned to learning about databases and specific programs for creating databases; The other two students had 1/2 day job shadow experiences.

It’s important for the community organization to have a clear idea of what they need for a client-connected project. If the community organization doesn’t have a clear idea, options for the teacher to help facilitate conversations between the organization and the students, especially if it seems like the project isn’t going anywhere.
