Problem: What can we do to better support and include ESL students on their visit to JA BizTown?
Summary of Project
Students visited JA BizTown to observe the needs of students with limited English proficiency. They then created support for those students to use both before and during their visit.
Key Takeaways or Advice
I found it helpful in this class full of many sophomores to provide them with a professional email template for their communication with our community partner. Many of them had never sent a professional email and struggled to create something from scratch. We also discussed at length that getting negative feedback from a client does not mean that you are not doing a good job. It is just an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to respond to your client’s needs and feedback.
