Problem: How can we take local action to make a global difference in the environment?

After a visit to our local dump/resource recovery area, students thought of an environmental problem, researched possible solutions, and then created their solutions, using systems thinking to make a bigger impact.

I would be happy to help any modern language teacher think about how to do a project with students who don’t have a lot of language skills without losing instructional time. My struggle was that we ran out of time to implement the plans because my focus was on teaching French. However, even though we did not have a tangible plan of action, my students still were able to connect our in-class knowledge to what was going on in the world in a real-world aspect.
