Problem: How can we best develop a plan and place for students to go for mental health, physical health, and academic services?
Summary of Project
Students worked collaboratively to solve the issue of students having a safe place for after-school workouts, academic help, and understanding what physical activity can do for their mental health. Students researched mental health in teens and how to market to their age group. Students came up with ideas on how they could promote the app SpartaMOVE.
Key Takeaways or Advice
I think I struggled most with time – our district is still understanding all about CCPs and there was not always time to focus on this CCP as well as another one we participated in within our district. I think there is a misunderstanding of what real-world learning looks like and how much time and resources it takes. I did love seeing the students working on problems that are relevant and they could see an outcome that was making a difference in their community – meant more as they saw and worked on something that had meaning.
Learning Standards
Students conducted research, students utilized and learned how social media marketing can help boost your business, students problem-solved and worked collaboratively to come up with solutions to questions the company asked.
