School: Belton High School
Class: Architecture & Construction
Instructor: Kevin Rushing
Client: Coach Tommy Coovert
Problem: Coach Coovert needed a solution to player;s belongings lying all over the dugout floor.
Summary of Project
The client approached us about doing a project for the varsity baseball team. The students then measured the dugout and with the client’s requests, set out to build the shelves.
Key Takeaways or Advice
I believe our CCP went well. While it was the first for my class and me, it went smoothly because I teach a construction class, which lends well to providing a service. The students worked well as a team and were proud of the final product.
Advice? Don’t be afraid to start small. Our first CCP was in-house with the baseball team. I would like to maybe next year, look outside the school for a project.
Learning Standard
- I can safely and effectively use a compound miter saw, a drill, and an orbital sander.
