School: Ruskin High School

Class: Business Economics

Instructor: Katy Bergeron

Client: City Market Vendors

Problem: What can we learn about global economic connections by exploring the currencies, products, and trade practices of countries represented in our local marketplace?

Summary

During our international economies unit in business economics, students identified eight countries represented at the city market in Kansas City. Students created posters with frequently asked questions, the currency of each country, exchange rates to the US dollar, and the most popular product produced in each country. On March 20th the students presented their findings and posters to the various vendors.

Takeaways

In the future I want to give the students choices in what material to produce that explains the country and its economy. Also, the infographics became repetitive because we did eight different countries. Finding different ways to represent the countries would be more engaging for all students.

Advice

Go slow and allow your students to be creative. Do not give them specific parameters on how to create materials other than how many ideas to present.
